George M. Pecorelli 1920-2013
WARREN – George M. Pecorelli, 93, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Briarfield at the Ridge.
He was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Warren, the son of Santo and Pasqualine Pecorelli.
George retired in 1982 from Rainbow Lanes Bowling as a maintenance man after 22 years and eight years at storage transfer.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing, pool and ping-pong.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
His wife, Edna ”Alice” A. Pecorelli, whom he married Dec. 4, 1982, died Feb. 27, 1996.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Paula) Pecorelli of McDonald and Esther Pecorelli of Warren; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Pecorelli of Warren; stepdaughters, Katheryn Hedge of Southington and Carol (Darren) Mancini of Champion; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Santa ”Sandy” Pecorelli; four sisters, Filomena Pagano, Josephine Caputo, Manulla Sheets and Antonette Mariani; and a brother, Michael A. Pecorelli.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michelle Nickodemus officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland with full military honors.
