Eliette-Claude Grafas 1920-2013

WARREN – Eliette-Claude Grafas, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.

She was born June 6, 1920, in Oran, Algeria, the daughter of the late Abelardo Sempere and the late Josefa Ortega Sempere.

She worked as a tailor for George Innes in Port Huron, Mich.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in taking care of her family.

She loved animals, as well as cooking and baking. She was dearly loved by all of the caretakers at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland, and she was affectionately known as “St. Francis” because she was always taking care of the animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Vic) Rizkallah of Warren; her granddaughters, Jeanine (Levi) DeJacimo and Mariam Rizkallah; as well as her great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Kinsley DeJacimo.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Grafas, whom she married March 2, 1946, and who preceded her in March 2000; and siblings, Josette Leeder and Abelardo and Andre Sempere.

A private celebration of her life will be held at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where arrangements have been entrusted.
