McKinley Memorial ready for centennial
NILES — The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial will hold a centennial re-dedication and time capsule opening Oct. 14.
The event will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the memrorial, 40 N. Main St., Niles. There will be free tours of the National McKinley Birthplace Museum in the auditorium wing of the building. This museum is the first presidential museum.
At noon, there will be a recreation of the dedication of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial, which originally was dedicated on Oct. 5, 1917. At 2 p.m., a time capsule buried in the cornerstone on Nov. 20, 1915 will be opened.
There also will be guest speakers and musical entertainment.
