Flag Day Fest set

WEATHERSFIELD — The fourth annual Weathersfield Flag Day Festival will be Thursday to Sunday at the community park and gazebo off state Route 46 at the former middle school site.

Township Fiscal Officer Fred Bobovnyk said the event has grown each year and new for 2017 will be helicopter rides above the festival.

Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The festival will feature amusement rides, carnival games. food and raffles.

The event will include nightly concerts 7 to 10:30 p.m. on the main stage. Edison’s Medicine will perform Thursday, Southern Detour on Friday and Andy Timko on Saturday.

The parade will be 6 p.m. Friday, traveling from Ohltown-McDonald Road, along Route 46 to Depot Street. Following the parade will be a flag raising ceremony and dedication of new flag poles. Bobovynk said local Cub Scouts will place three flags – a U.S. flag, state flag and Cub Scout flag – at the site.

Also being planned for Saturday are Mineral Ridge Fire Association’s one-mile fun run and 5K event, corn hole tournament 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., local talent performance at the gazebo 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and fireworks 10:45 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a pancake breakfast 9 a.m. to noon at Mineral Ridge Presbyterian Church and the “Rumble in the Ridge” car show 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Township community garage sales will also be held Thursday to Sunday.
