Man charged in death released

Bond lowered from $1M to $100,000

WARREN — A man accused of causing the death of a woman in February outside the Hideaway Lounge Bar and Grill was released from the Trumbull County Jail after his bond was lowered from $1 million to $100,000, according to court records.

And the operator of the bar was banned permanently April 12 by a Niles judge from owning bars in Niles, Weathersfield and McDonald for operating the Hideaway without a liquor permit.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice lowered the bond April 11 for Ryan Daniels Sr., 28, Bonnie Brae SE, Warren, and committed him to house arrest, according to court records.

Daniels was released from jail Friday, according to jail records.

Daniels was indicted on charges of reckless homicide with a firearm specification, involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification and illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises, all third-degree felonies, by a Trumbull County grand jury.

Daniels pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to appear May 2 for a pretrial hearing.

Britney Mazanec, 33, was in a car leaving the bar and grill Feb. 24 when she was shot in her right side. Daniels was ordered to refrain from contacting Mazanec’s family. He applied to have a public defender. Attorney John Juhasz is representing him, according to court records.

Daniels was booked into the jail just after the shooting. Niles Municipal Court Judge Christopher Shaker held him originally on a $1 million bond.

Daniels was charged previously with child endangering, drug possession and carrying concealed weapons, according to jail records.

The shooting death led to charges filed against the bar’s operator, Michael R. Watson, 40, 3406 Orchard Court, Warren, who was leasing the building and its liquor license from the permit holder. Watson was charged with three counts of operating the establishment with a permit, according to Niles Municipal Court records. He pleaded no contest and was found guilty. Shake permanently banned Watson from owning a liquor establishment in Niles, Weathersfield and McDonald, according to court records.

Watson is on a year of probation, was ordered to pay fines and costs and given a 180-day suspended jail sentence, according to court records.
