Second man accused of kidnapping goes to trial

WARREN — A jury heard opening statements and testimony Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of helping his brother and father kidnap and assault two other men in July.

Khyri Davis, 21, is charged with two counts each of kidnapping, felonious assault and aggravated robbery in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

His father, Keith Davis, 49, was found guilty earlier this month on one count of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault. He was acquitted on a second kidnapping charge and two counts of aggravated robbery.

Keelan Davis’ trial is scheduled for May 6.

Dale Polyai, 24, and Virgil Minniti III, 28, accused the men of dousing them with gasoline and assaulting them July 25 at 335 Mansell Drive, according to a police report.

Defense attorney Robert Rohrbaugh II said Keith Davis admitted he committed the crimes without the involvement of his two sons. The prosecution argues all three were involved.
