On the record – Howland

WHAT: Township trustee meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Dr. James Lapolla and Matthew Vansuch

ABSENT: Rick Clark

Trustees:

• Approved the township to participate in the Trumbull County Transit 2019 Program. According to trustee Dr. James Lapolla, each township or municipality participating in the transit program is billed by road mileage and population. Township Administrator Darlene St. George said the number of people using the bus system is up from last year, and the cost of the program remains the same. Trustees are encouraging residents to take advantage of the public transportation, which can transport people to hospitals, doctors and supermarkets;

• Accepted the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District’s plan. The district charges the township an annual fee based on population, Lapolla said;

• Approved the transfer of a liquor license to Old Avalon Golf Course. Beer, wine and mixed beverages will be allowed in sealed containers on the premises until 1 a.m.;

• Announced limb and branch pickup will begin April 15 starting on the east side of the township. All branches should be placed on curbs;

• Announced Food Truck Fridays will be in Richard E. Orwig Park June 7, July 12, Aug. 2, and Sept. 6.
