Liberty board approves expanding employee’s job

LIBERTY — With the resignation of the school district’s Education Management Information System (EMIS) coordinator, the Liberty Board of Education on Thursday approved giving additional duties to another employee.

Liberty Superintendent Joseph Nohra said Beth Russell, the district’s food service supervisor, will receive an additional $1,500 stipend to also perform the EMIS coordinator duties. Nohra said the board decided not to fill the position with a new employee following the resignation of Bonnie Bock, who left for a job with the Mathews Local School District.

In other action, the board:

• Approved the retirement of elementary teacher Christina Smith, effective December 2019;

• Approved funds for a flow through account for the guaranteed Clean Energy projects in the district that will allow for the accepting of funds for payments;

• Approved a change in the language for the superintendent and treasurer contracts. Each will have a cap of 40 days of vacation, an increase over their previous 30 vacation days. Nohra said he and Treasurer Maureen Lloyd are now allowed 37 days and can accumulate up to 40 days.
