Black History Month events

• Today and Sunday — Trumbull County NAACP will hold its annual “Black History” series. Several Black History events and activities are scheduled by the local chapter of the NAACP at Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road, Warren. Today, the museum and vendor expo is 1 to 7 p.m. with open stage performances 3 to 7 p.m. featuring musician Darius Simmons. Roundtable discussion 2 to 3 p.m. with Michael McGee, a Pan-African historian, and Dr. Kimberly Jackson Pinn D.O., Precious Ball NAACP youth president. On Sunday, a museum, soul food and vendor expo is 1 to 7 p.m. with special guest Pastor Ronald Fowlis who will speak on “The History of the Black Church in Civil Rights.”

• Today — The “Salute to Black Businesses” will be highlighted with the documentary movie debut of “Business in the Black,” which delves into the history of African-American entrepreneurs. Detroit filmmaker Anthony Brogdon will be on hand to discuss his movie after the showing, which will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center, 125 W. Market St., Warren. Local vendors will be on hand noon to 3 p.m. The business showcase is sponsored by Warren 6th Ward Councilwoman Cheryl Saffold, Warren Civic League, Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League and the Minority Business Assistance Center at the Youngstown Incubator.

• Today — Youngstown Harambee Dancers 11 a.m. at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s main branch downtown. The event includes African-American cultural performances and promoting of racial harmony.

• Sunday — Girl Scout Troop 80324 will hold a Celebrating Black History Month with “Our Story: African American Heritage Walk” event 1 to 5 p.m. at Second Baptist Church “A House of Hope,” 1510 Main Ave. SW, Warren. There will be educational exhibits and multi-media displays featuring Black History makers, inventors and trailblazers.

• Monday — Concert series with Kent State University Gospel Choir 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Kent State at Trumbull, co-sponsored by the Diversity in Action Council as part of Black History Month.
