WHAT: Board of Education organizational meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Betsy Dunn, Steve Gilanyi, John Shaffer, Al Haberstroh and Richard Selep

The Board:

• Gave final reading to placing a four-year, 3.85-mill renewal levy, to generate $250,000 annually for emergency needs of the district, on the May 7 primary ballot. Plans are for a levy committee to be formed to promote the levy. An emergency levy on the November general election ballot was defeated by voters;

• Named Dunn as president and Gilanyi as vice president;

• Approved following appointments: Haberstroh, legislative liaison and records committee; Gilanyi, athletic council liaison; Dunn and Selep, student achievement; Shaffer, financial liaison and audit committee; Selep and Gilanyi, building and grounds; and Dunn, safety committee;

• Accepted resignation of Cathy Heikkila, who worked as playground aide and cafeteria worker;

• Set meetings for 6 p.m. the third Thursday of month.
