WHAT: Board of Education organizational/ regular meeting Monday
PRESENT: Russell Sewell, Virginia Blaney, Diane Duncan, Tim Gibson and Gary Morton
The Board:
• Named Sewell as president and Blaney as vice president;
• Approved Duncan as delegate to the Ohio School Board Association with Blaney as alternate;
• Approved Sewell and Blaney to finance/ audit liaisons; Gibson and Sewell, buildings, grounds and transportation liaisons; Morton and Duncan, public relations; Morton, athletic council liaison; Sewell and Gibson, negotiations; Sewell and Blaney, technology; Morton and Duncan, curriculum and policy review; and Duncan and Blaney, student achievement;
• Approved purchase of a 77-passenger school bus from Myers Equipment Corp. at $88,108;
• Approved increasing substitute classified pay for cooks and secretaries from $8.30 to $9.25 per hour; bus drivers $12 to $12.25 or $27 to $27.56 per trip; custodian $8 to $9.25; and aide $8.30 to $8.55;
• Recognized indoor track as a sport for Ohio High School Athletic Association at no cost to the district;
• Named James Bailey, a sixth-grade teacher, as varsity baseball head coach and Kristen Palumbo as special education classroom aide on an as-needed basis;
• Approved agreement with Kent State University for College Credit-Plus for high school students to earn college credits while in high school;
• Set meetings 6 p.m. the second Monday of month with exception of November, which will be the third Monday;
• Set maximum credit card limit for any district credit card account at $25,000.
