Lordstown sets financial forum

LORDSTOWN — A financial forum hosted by Lordstown schools officials is planned 5 p.m. Feb. 14 in Lecture Hall B of the high school.

District officials will discuss the state funding formula, local funding sources and facts about past, current and future finances. The forum was prompted by the announcement in November by General Motors to idle the Lordstown plant in March, according to a news release from Lordstown Superintendent Terry Armstrong.

The district will host forums once per quarter to keep the community updated as things move forward, Armstrong said, noting the district joins “those working in the Drive It Home campaign as we hope for a future decision to select GM Lordstown for future car production.”

The district is not seeking new revenue from the taxpayers, the release states, “but will continue to lobby the state of Ohio to remove the funding cap that cost Lordstown Schools 50 percent of its funding.”
