Bazetta trustees discuss failed levies for park, roads

BAZETTA — Township trustees met Tuesday to discuss the road and park levies that failed in the Nov. 6 election.

“No action has been taken yet,” said Trustee Chairman Ted Webb. “We are investigating further ways to approach them.”

The road levy would have raised $2.1 million over five years to be used for improvements to township roads such as paving and other maintenance needs. The park levy would have raised $30,000 for park operations and maintenance.

“There was some discussion about the possibility of making the road levy into a bond issue, but that requires lots of research before we proceed with that,” said Webb.

Webb also said Tuesday’s meeting was just a discussion and that more action will be taken Tuesday.
