2 charged in YSU lockdown incident
YOUNGSTOWN — Police have charged both men involved in a fight that led to the lockdown Monday at Youngstown State University.
Robert Allen and Dennis Hubert are charged with inducing panic, according to court records.
The school was locked down for nearly two hours after Hubert reported that Allen pulled a gun after a fight at Kilcawley Center. Youngstown Community Health Center, Choffin Career and Technical Center, St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County also were placed on lockdown.
Investigators said they later found out that Hubert lied about the firearm. Allen, who is not a YSU student, was charged because he came to the university to fight with Hubert, according to police.
Allen turned himself in after the incident, but he wasn’t immediately charged.
