WHAT: City council meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Reynald Paolone, William Ryser, Fran Wilson, Mark Standohar, Mark Ragozine, John Moliterno, Thomas Grumley, Lily Martuccio and Mayor James Melfi

Council:

•l Heard from Melfi he is waiting on word from the Trumbull Sanitary Engineer’s Office after receiving a letter earlier this month proposing a feasibility study to determine if the county could buy the portion of Girard’s water system that provides water for 1,456 users in Liberty. If the county purchased a portion of Girard’s water system, it would pay Girard to compensate for its investment in the infrastructure. The county needs support from the city before doing a study to find out if the plan could save some Liberty customers money;

• Learned the Ohio Public Works Commission has approved approximately $120,000 in funds for the 2019 paving program, including Trumbull Avenue with no local share from the city;

• Learned the State Controlling Board has approved $250,000 for additional cleanup at the former McQuaid’s Gas Station;

• Recognized businessman Randall Emery, owner of the Bond and the Blackhorse Tavern, for his work on improving buildings in the city’s downtown, including the 1929 Jones Building off Liberty Street.
