Fire station closed until trucks fixed

WARREN — One of the Warren Fire Department’s three fire stations is temporarily closed.

Station 5, located on Atlantic Street, has been closed since Saturday, according to the Warren firefighters’ Twitter page. The station is closed because two of the department’s trucks need repaired, said Assistant fire Chief Bill Monrean.

The station also is without a reserve. Firefighters who staffed Station 5 are now working out of the central station on South Street. With two trucks needing repairs, the city is left with three operating fire trucks, said Union President John Jerina.

Having the station closed means response time will be delayed in that part of the city, Jerina said. Station 5 is expected to open later this week, Monrean said.
