Reward offered for details on Five Guys robbery

AUSTINTOWN — Police are asking for help to solve an Aug. 18 robbery of Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 107 S. Canfield Niles Road, according to Austintown Police Detective Sgt. Jordan Yacovone.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of three men in their mid-20s who entered the restaurant at about 8:45 p.m. Aug. 18 to rob the restaurant.

“It was three black males that entered the restaurant with their faces covered,” Yacovone said. “One of the males pointed a gun in the faces of two of the three girls who were working in the restaurant that night.”

One of the men walked directly to the cash register and a second went to the restaurant’s safe, Yacovone said. The third man stood at the front door as a lookout, he said.

A fourth man, the driver, waited for them in the rear of the restaurant in what police describes as either a white or a silver late-model Chevrolet Tahoe or Chevrolet Suburban

Police estimated that they escaped with between $1,300 and $1,500.

No gunshots or injuries were reported.

Workers pulled the holdup alarm and called 911 as soon as the robbers left, police said.

According to police reports, one of the robbers wore a dark hoodie and sunglasses.

A second man wore a gray T-shirt and a green bandanna that kept falling from his face.

The third wore a purple T-shirt and a stocking mask, police said.

Anyone with information should call Yacovone at 330-270-5109. Tips may be anonymous.
