LITTLE DRESSES FOR HAITI: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, is continuing to welcome all teens and adults interested in learning to sew or to share their sewing skills with others to participate in its Little Dresses for Haiti program.

The program is 10 a.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, except for holidays, to make a sundress and a pair of shorts. All materials and supplies will be furnished at no cost, with the items to be donated to children in Haiti. For information, call 330-534-7629.

SUPPORT GROUP: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, is hosting a support group for all those who have experienced any kind of separation or loss including by death, dismemberment, divorce, job loss or loss of direction and purpose in life. Meetings will take place every other Saturday 2 p.m. today, Oct. 27 and Nov. 10. Additional sessions will be determined. The facilitator is Don Cooper, Northeast Ohio Bible College, who has been counseling for 35 years.

WOMEN’S FORUM: The Mount Olive Baptist Church Deaconess Board will hold a Women’s Forum 11 a.m. today at the church, 385 Martin Luther King Blvd SW, Warren. Guest speaker is Helen Jethroe from Deliverance Temple.

BLESSING OF CHILD: Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3020 Reeves Road, Warren, will hold Blessing of Child in the Womb, at the weekend liturgies 4 p.m. today and 9 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

INSTALLATION: Bishop George Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown will formally install the Rev. Peter Haladej as pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish at 4 p.m. today. A reception will follow. Receptions will also be held following the Sunday morning Masses at 9 and 11:30 a.m.

MUSICAL TRIO: Delightful Evangelical Church, U.S. Route 422, Southington, will host the Shanower Trio 6:30 p.m. today. They will perform Southern gospel music.

PASTOR APPRECIATION: New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, 2555 Palmyra Road SW, Warren, will hold a pastor appreciation for Pastor Alton Merrell Sr. for his 38 years with the church at 10 a.m. Sunday.

MUSICAL EVENT: First Congregational Church of Newton Falls, 612 West Broad St., will host the Singing Weavers 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

GROUNDBREAKING: Hartford United Methodist Church, 6830 state Route 305, will hold the 65th anniversary of its groundbreaking 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

BOOK BURIAL RESCHEDULED: The Jewish Federation has rescheduled its community book burial and dedication ceremony to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Knox Street Cemetery in Youngstown (end of Knox Street).

Anyone with holy books that are no longer in use or are torn may bring them to be buried. Holy books no longer being used in the area temples will be buried as well. Maimonides School of Jewish Studies students in grades 3 through 10 will take part in this program.

The last human burial in the cemetery was in the 1970s. It was neglected until recently when Stephen Stoyak initiated restoration efforts.The land was regraded, seeded and fertilized, and some of the tombstones that were toppled were reset.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY: Lordstown Baptist Church, 4086 Highland Ave., will celebrate the 36th annual church anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker is Wayne Redd.

FAMILY DAY: Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 405 Depot St., Niles, will hold Family and Friends Day 11 a.m. Sunday. The theme is “Have You Made Your Decision? When Will You Serve?”

PASTORAL APPRECIATION: Hoyt Street Flourishing Ministries COGIC, 789 Hoyt St., Warren, will hold a pastoral appreciation 5 p.m. Sunday for Drs. Gerald and Vivian Morgan. Guest speaker is pastor George Moore of St. James COGIC, Youngstown.

AWAKEN OUR HEARTS: St. Patrick Church of Hubbard will present “Awaken Our Hearts” parish mission with Vince Ambrosetti, Sunday through Wednesday.

Ambrosetti, a former Catholic Artist of the Year, will lead the mission at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard. There is a family concert 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Events include: 7 p.m. Monday, “Coming into the Presence of God;” Tuesday, “Resting in the Presence of God through Forgiveness, Healing and Peace;”and Wednesday, “The Presence of God Alive Within Us from Table to World.” Ambrosetti also has composed, recorded and, by invitation of the Vatican, performed for Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s Basilica.

TORAH STUDIES: Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergreen Road, Villa Maria, Pa., will host an ongoing series entitled, “Torah Studies for Christians” 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. George Balasko. This month’s topic is “Hearing the parables of Jesus with Jewish ears.”

The Bible education series is an opportunity for Christians to reflect on the Scriptures using what is available on the Internet with professor Henry Abramson.

FOCUS ON HEALTH: Sisters of the Humility of Mary and Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 225 Villa Marie Road, Villa Maria, Pa., will host a program titled “Know Your Exposures: Air and Water Quality Monitoring in Response to Natural Gas Development” 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Speaker is Nathan Ribar, an environmental health educator.

MUSICAL EVENT: Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., Youngstown, will host musician Sue Deutschlander, 7 p.m. Thursday. She will be joined by Rachel Aiken and Christine Habuda. A free-will offering will be accepted.

SEMINAR SET: Trinity Baptist Church Institute will sponsor the 25th annual Christian Education Seminar 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the church, 235 Highland Ave. SW, Warren. Class facilitator is the Rev. Edward Cryer of Unity Baptist Church in Cleveland, who will be speaking on “The Power of Faith.”

FALL FESTIVAL: West Mecca Bible Methodist Church will celebrate its one-year anniversary and introduce its new pastor with a pig roast and chili cook-off. The free community family fun day is set noon to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 on the church grounds, 1215 Greenville Road NE.

Activities will include a bounce house, face painting, farm petting zoo, volleyball, cornhole, horseshoes and Wiffle ball. Roasted pig will be served at 1 p.m. The day will be capped off with a devotional and singing around a campfire.

The congregation of the former Warren Bible Methodist Church moved into the historic West Mecca United Methodist Church building on Oct. 29, 2017. Pastor Mike Shiery began serving as minister on Sept. 2. Sunday morning worship is 10:45 a.m. and evening worship is 6 p.m.

40-YEAR ORDINATION: St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2053 North Road, will hold the 40th anniversary of the ordination of Father Ken Bachofsky Oct. 21. Liturgy will take place at 10 a.m. A 40th anniversary 5K Run and Walk will be noon Oct. 20 at Howland Township Park. A recovery picnic and social will follow at the church hall.

SWEET HARMONIES: F.E.F. Church, 10585 Windham-Parkman Road, Garrettsville, will host Sweet Harmonies 11 a.m. Oct. 21.

CROP WALK: The Cortland United Methodist Church will host the annual Crop Walk 2 p.m. Oct. 21. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

SPECIAL MASS: Bishop George Murry will celebrate a special Mass 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Canton, to mark the wedding anniversaries of 74 couples who are being honored for a total of 3,408 years of wedded life ranging from 25 to 70 years.

The celebration includes renewal of marriage vows at Mass and a personalized certificate.

WOMEN’S WEEKEND: Women Anew, a faith-based, nondenonominational ministry, invites women of all ages to join for a weekend of being refreshed and encouraged in the Bible Oct. 26 to 28 at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron. The theme is “Stand Strong in the Lord,” with speaker Carol Kent.

HOMECOMING REDEDICATION: Bristolville United Methodist Church, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary, will hold a homecoming rededication service 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at the church at the intersection of state Routes 45 and 88. The service will be followed by a social gathering.

REVIVAL: Word of Life Christian Center, 127 Wasser Road, Greenville, Pa. will hold the “I See Revival” 10 a .m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28.

150 YEARS: As part of its 150th anniversary celebration, St. Patrick Parish in Hubbard is holding a St. Patrick School Alumni Mass and get-together with 4 p.m. Mass Nov. 3 followed by a reception and tour of the school. THEOLOGICAL STUDY: The St. John Lutheran Church of Youngstown, 1429 Mahoning Ave. NW, will hold a ministries study program during October. Theme is “Most Important Issues of Faith and Life.” The ecumenical study group meets three times a year during October, March and May from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.

THE WAY TO SERIES: Believers Church has invited Trumbull County Children Services to host a series of presentations on hot topics that affect the community. The topics will be explained so that the participants can be equipped to overcome any family adversity. TCCS Executive Director Tim Schaffner and agency supervisors will give a brief presentation on the series of topics and will conclude with an open discussion. Presentations will take place 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Believers Church on Schenley Avenue NE.

OPEN HOUSE: Perkinswood Chapel in Warren held its second annual open house to showcase its church and remodeling that was done. The church completed its kneeling altar and other additions. Church pastor is James Mann.

YOUTH EVENT: All Catholic high school students in grades 9 to 12 are invited to the 2018 Diocesan Youth Convention Nov. 4 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Canton. The theme is “With All Your Heart.” Participants must register through their parish youth ministry or Catholic high school campus minister.

The event will feature OCP / Spirit & Song artist Jesse Manibusan who has spoken, performed, and led worship at the National Catholic Youth Conference. He has previously been to the Diocese of Youngstown several times. He led retreats and concerts at Youngstown St. Patrick.

Bishop George Murry will entertain questions from the teens during a “Conversation with the Bishop” session prior to celebrating the event’s closing Mass. Teens also will have the opportunity to pray in adoration and celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation.

All participants are asked to bring baby diapers or wipes to donate to the new Mercy Health Diaper Pantry.

Following convention, Manibusan will offer a concert for the public 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 3430 St. Michael Blvd., N.W., Canton.
