WHAT: Township trustee meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Sam Plott, Cindy Speaker and Dan Tietz

Trustees:

• Heard from Plott trustees will contact Rachel McCartney, economic development analyst at Youngstown State University, to see about adding a “historical section of the township” to the comprehensive plan, which was completed by Cleveland State University. Trustees also will meet with the zoning commission on making additions or changes to the plan;

• Reported modifications will be made to the ambulance for a new motorized power lift unit to get patients into the vehicle without having to lift them. An Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation grant of $30,000 was obtained to cover most of the unit’s costs. The township’s local share will be $7,500;

• Heard from fire Chief Chris Plott that the department has made 430 runs to date this year;

• Announced a newsletter will be sent to residents explaining the need for passage of the 1-mill continuous permanent improvement fire levy on the Nov. 6 ballot. The levy will raise $65,000 annually for fire and emergency medical service needs and replace the existing 1-mill levy, originally passed in 1980, and bring levy valuation up to 2018 rates;

• Will meet 6 p.m. Monday with Champion trustees on a contract for emergency medical service provided to the township by Champion;

• Announced Braceville will host the Trumbull Trustee Association meeting 6 p.m. Oct. 18 at township hall.
