Tractor trailer overturns on I-76

MILTON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to an accident between a car and a semi-tractor trailer that closed Interstate 76 westbound lanes for a short time Saturday morning.

Troopers told Tribune Chronicle news partner WKBN-27 the truck’s front tire blew out around 10 a.m. and the driver lost control before sideswiping a car, causing both vehicles to go off the left side of the road, into the median and then stopping in the woods. The trailer overturned and a large excavator was left on its side, the report states.

The semi-truck and car did not hit any oncoming traffic; however, they ended up on the tree line off the side of I-76 westbound. The driver of the Honda was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No citations were issued, but westbound traffic was detoured off Bailey Road until I-76 was reopened shortly after, the report states.
