LAKE MILTON — A grant and loan package from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to extend waterlines to the Canyon Park, Scott Cliff and Ellsworth Road areas near Lake Milton.

The money — a $2.1 million loan and $1.8 million grant — will provide a new water source to about 150 homes in the area. Those homes now are served by individual water systems that don’t provide an adequate source of quality water, according to U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, D-Howland, who announced the grant.

In addition, the lines will improve water delivery to 1,400 homes connected to the water system, according to Ryan.
