Brookfield names new fire chief

BROOKFIELD — Township trustees on Friday named David Masirovits of Ladson, S.C., as the new fire chief effective Oct. 1 on a one-year probationary period contract at a salary of $65,000.

Trustee Chairman Ron Haun said Masirovits, who was selected from 18 candidates, was chosen for his experience and background.

“He was very impressive throughout the entire interview and evaluation process,” said Haun, noting Masirovits was among the final two candidates for second interviews.

Masirovits, originally from Ashtabula, has been serving as a firefighter, paramedic and captain for 10 years in South Carolina.

Trustees were assisted by the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association in the search and selection process. Masirovits replaces Keith Barrett, who retired in January.
