WHAT: Township trustee meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Sam Plott, Cindy Speaker and Dan Tietz


• Heard from Plott who will meet with Southington school officials on possibly having restrooms at the 1907 school building and the township needing to tap into the water treatment plant;

• Will meet, along with Farmington officials, 1 p.m. Friday with the county engineer’s office on Issue 2 funding for needed upgrade work on Geauga-Portage Easterly Road, which is in both townships;

• Have completed the first phase of the truck load limit sign postings. Plott said several roads are now posted with five-ton weight limits;

• Approved purchase of a $33,371 pickup truck from Preston Ford in Burton;

• Accepted resignation of firefighter Kyle Moffitt;

• Approved a contract with Colonial Life Co. at $1,427 for a life insurance policy for two road employees and the zoning inspector;

• Purchased 30 tons at $60 per ton of top coat patch for the roads from Marzane Asphalt and Paving Co. in Warren for patching roads and potholes before paving is done;

• Approved Horodyski Brothers at $1,555 to process tires collected from the spring tire collection;

• Were informed a local Boy Scout is interested in an Eagle Scout project to reset stones and enhance the playground area;

• Announced the Back to School event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at the park;

• Set a budget hearing 6 p.m. Monday at township hall.
