Mathews BOE hires school treasurer

VIENNA — The Mathews Board of Education hired Bradley Panik as the district’s new treasurer during a special meeting Saturday.

Panik, who has been treasurer for the Liberty Local School District for the past three years, was given a three-year contract, effective Aug. 6. He will be paid $67,500 annually, according to board president Tarin Brown.

Before becoming treasurer in Liberty, Panik was the assistant treasurer for Ashtabula City Schools. He will replace Ryan Jones, who is leaving to become treasurer of the Marlington School District in Stark County.

Brown said Panik was the only applicant with previous experience as a school treasurer, which factored into the hiring decision because the district also recently hired a new superintendent, Russell McQuaide, who officially begins Aug. 1.
