Man attempts to break into home

WARREN — A man is being held on $20,000 bond in the Trumbull County Jail after a woman called police to her home as a stranger tried to break through a window, according to police and court records.

Linda Solomon, 68, called police at 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 1343 Tod Ave. SW because a man was pounding on the front door, according to a police report. When officers arrived, a man was “ripping off material and glass” from a back window. Solomon told police he was reaching in, pulling and ripping the blinds as she hit his hands with her cellphone, the report states.

The man appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and couldn’t explain why he was there, the report states.

Joseph W. Woomer, 35, with addresses on Lane Drive SW and Ohio Avenue NW, pleaded not guilty in an aggravated burglary charge Monday in Warren Municipal Court. He is due back in court on July 9.
