Twins hurt; city woman is arrested

WARREN — The mother of twin girls hospitalized with broken bones is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on child endangering charges.

Harley Warner, 20, is expected to make her first appearance Monday in Warren Municipal Court on the two felony charges, according to police. Jail records show she is being held without bond.

She was arrested Friday by Warren police, but the investigation is a joint one with Newton Falls police, said Warren police detective Nick Carney.

“Right now she is charged with endangering children, a felony three, that happened in the city,” Carney said.

The twin 6-month-old girls have been released from Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron and are with a foster family, Carney said.

Police in Warren and in Newton Falls started the investigation after doctors discovered both had skull fractures, according to Tribune Chronicle news partner WKBN 27. Newton Falls police were called on June 12 to a home on Warner Road to look into a possible case of child abuse. The next day, a woman called 911 from a home on Vine Avenue, telling the dispatcher her daughter was breathing slowly and turning purple, according to WKBN.
