WHAT: Board of Education meeting Monday

PRESENT: Russell Sewell, Diane Duncan, Gary Morton, Virginia Blaney and Tim Gibson

The board:

• Took the first step to placing a renewal of a 3-mill, five-year permanent improvement levy on the November general election ballot. Superintendent Anthony Calderone said the levy generates approximately $200,000 annually for remodeling, renovating, furnishing and equipping school buildings and properties;

• Approved 89 seniors for graduation 7 p.m. May 25 at Packard Music Hall;

• Renewed an agreement with the Nutrition Group for cafeteria operations and management services;

• Approved placing the LaBrae Hall of Fame under the auspices of the LaBrae Local School District;

• Hired Andrew Hampton as an intervention teacher on one-year agreement;

• Approved “Cruisin’ with the Vikings” event 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10-12 at the Bascom Elementary School parking lot.
