WHAT: Township trustee meeting Monday

PRESENT: John Beran, Jason Gwinn and Roger Peterson


• Will contact Orwell Natural Gas about possibly getting gaslines extended to the township. Peterson said trustees also will contact Bristol officials who are also seeking gasline extensions to their community and seeing if the two townships could possibly work together on the effort;

• Heard from residents concerned about flooding of ditches and roadways mainly near state game land areas in the township. Officials will notify the Ohio Department of Natural Resources about flooding problems;

• Discussed the need to purchase a mini-excavator to be used for roadside mowing and ditching, and work in the cemetery;

• Approved electrical outlet upgrades at the township hall in preparation for Election Day when voting machines will need to be plugged in;

• Announced the Bloomfield Historical Society will celebrate the town hall’s 125 years with displays of township documents and other items Aug. 12 at town hall;

• Heard from Assistant fire Chief David Peterson of applying for grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation;

• Approved roof slate work at the town hall at $500;

• Are reviewing all certifications of firefighters and emergency medical technicians and also driver’s license credentials for employees to make sure everything is in line for future audits. Roger Peterson said trustees wanted to take a “proactive” approach for audits, making sure everything is in compliance;

• Set spring cleanup for May 5 at the township garage with hours to be posted.
