Work to begin at Champion fields
CHAMPION — Work is set to begin in two weeks on two fields dedicated last fall in memory of two former longtime school board members.
Champion Local Schools Superintendent Pamela Hood said the Larry Durch Baseball Field and Roger Samuelson Softball Field will be started this spring with a goal to have the two fields ready in 2019.
Groundbreaking took place last fall when Durch and Samuelson were recognized. Durch died at age 72 in 2013 and Samuelson at age 79 in March 2017.
The ballfields will be east of the high school and near the new K-8 School complex under construction south of the high school off state Route 45.
