Single-car crash sends the driver to hospital

SOUTHINGTON — A man was badly hurt in a single-car accident about 4:30 a.m. Monday on state Route 534 near Phalanx Mills Herner Road.

David Hunt, 47, of Garrettsville, driving a 2002 GMC Yukon, failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and hit a tree, according to a report. The vehicle then flipped over, causing Hunt to be thrown from the SUV.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. Hunt is in critical condition at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. The accident is under investigation.
