Austin Avenue home hit by gunfire on Monday

WARREN — No one was hurt when a home at 534 Austin Ave. SW was shot just before 10 p.m. Monday, according to a police report.

Police found a bullet lodged in a wall in an upstairs bedroom, damage from another bullet in several areas of the house and eight .40 caliber shell casings in the street, the report states.

The residents told police they thought the noise was from a television upstairs and didn’t know the home was being shot at until a child ran downstairs and yelled for them to get to the floor. They crawled to the basement and waited for the shooting to stop before calling police, the reports states.

No one saw who shot or a vehicle leaving the area.
