Fake $100 bill tried at drug store

WARREN — A man tried to use a fake $100 bill to pay for a Western Union transaction at the Walgreens on West Market Street, according to a police report.

The report filed Saturday states the man tried to use the counterfeit currency on Feb. 4, but an employee saw the bill was fake, the report states. The man told the employee to keep it because he did not want to get in trouble with it, the report states. Police have the counterfeit bill as evidence, the report states.

Motorist injured in Braceville crash

BRACEVILLE — A man needed medical attention for minor head injury he received when his Chevrolet Suburban hit a concrete wall Monday morning on state Route 5, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The man, whose name was not available, was headed east about 6 a.m. when the vehicle struck the wall below the Ohio Turnpike. He was cited with failure to control, according to the patrol. The driver was not impaired.
