M.L. King Jr. Day events

• Trumbull County Ministerial Alliance will hold a Martin Luther King Jr. service 6 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church, 1510 Main Ave. SW, Warren. The theme is “He’s Intended.” The event will recognize law enforcement from Trumbull and Mahoning counties and bring together the African-American community and those in law enforcement.

• Martin Luther King commemoration programs in Youngstown ”Fifty Years Later: Remembering What is Civil, Doing What is Right” will include community workshops 3:30 p.m. Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown, with speaker / presenter the Rev. Willie James Jennings, associate pastor of systematic theology and African studies at Yale University.

• The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. diversity breakfast will be 8 a.m. Jan. 18 in the Chestnut Room, Kilcawley Center, Youngstown State University. The Rev. Todd A. Johnson, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Warren, gives the keynote address.
