City man held on assault, gun charges
WARREN — A Warren man is being held in the Trumbull County Jail without bond on assault and gun charges after a woman told police she was attacked and threatened with a gun at a Victoria Street SW home, according to a police report.
The report also states the woman was able to escape her attackers by firing a gun while the two men were on top of her.
Deran Rasean Ogletree, 32, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court to assault and possessing weapons under disability charges, court records show.
Police were called just before midnight Sunday to 1803 Victoria St. SW for a report of gunshots and a woman yelling for help.
The woman, 30, of Southern Boulevard NW, Warren, told police when she told her boyfriend she wanted to separate, he became upset, threw her to the floor and began kicking her, according to the report, which also states he had a gun. She also told police she was attacked by a family member of the man.
While both were attacking her, the woman was able to grab the gun and fire a couple of shots, the report states. The woman was able to run away and the men gave chase but retreated when they realized she had called police, the report states.
Ogletree, 633 Oxford St., Youngstown, is due back in court Jan. 25. He was arrested during a traffic stop on West Market Street near Rockys AM PM Food Mart, the report states.
A search of court records show the other man has not been charged.
