WHAT: Trustee meeting Monday

PRESENT: Stan Nudell, Jodi Stoyak and Jason Rubin

Trustees:

• Scheduled a special meeting for 11 a.m. Thursday to meet with officials with the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office to discuss road resurfacing projects for next year. Stoyak said the township has 60 miles of roads and will look at prioritizing roads;

• Approved submitting an application to participate in the Ohio Public Works Commission state capital improvement program for 2018 resurfacing. The township will receive $180,970, which is 61 percent of the total resurfacing project costs of $296,672;

• Heard from Fiscal Officer Steve Shelton there will be a positive general fund balance of more than $5,900 with the overall total for all department funds of about $1.3 million. Officials noted this is the first times in years the general fund, which funds most daily operations in the township, has had a positive balance. Trustees also increased appropriations with $50,000 to fire fund, $2,500 to drug fund and $125,000 to police fund;

l Set the organizational meeting for 1 p.m. Jan. 8. Trustees-elect Arnie Clebone and Greg Cizmar will be sworn into office.

Southington

WHAT: Board of education meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Tim Arbogast, Steve Gilanyi, Betsy Dunn, John Shaffer and Tom Proverbs

The board:

• Discussed what costs would be involved and what work would be needed to connect to a planned waterline going along state Route 534 through the township center. The board made no official decision;

• Set the organizational meeting for 6 p.m. Jan. 11;

• Appointed new board member Albert Haberstroh, who begins a four-year term in January, to serve as the board’s representative to the Trumbull Career and Technical Center for three years starting in 2018;

• Set board meeting pay at $80 per month for no more than 12 meetings per year;

• Accepted the resignation of assistant grounds / bus maintenance employee William St. Clair effective Dec. 5;

• Recognized high school students Livia Rhodes, Noah Ricks and Cole Saxion for participating in Ohio Music Educators Association District 5 Honors Band at Stambaugh Auditorium in November.

Warren Township

WHAT: Trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Kay Anderson, Bob Bush and Ed Anthony

Trustees:

• Accepted a petition from resident Butch Elser and other residents of Rio Vista Road seeking the establishment of a lighting district on their road, which they said is not lit well. Trustees will contact Ohio Edison and indicated a hearing would need to be held;

• Recognized Bush for his four years of service on the board. He did not win re-election in November.
