Mission warns of scam donation request

WARREN — The Warren Family Mission is warning those who would like to donate to their cause to be careful.

Dominic Marrari, public relations director of the Warren Family Mission, said some people have received phone calls soliciting donations. The mission does not solicit donations by phone, only through the mail to people who have donated in the past.

Any check intended for the mission should be written out to the Warren Family Mission, and no other person or organization, he said.

Three teens still missing from CSB

WARREN — Five of eight runaway teenagers returned home to the Trumbull County Children Services Resident Treatment Center on Wednesday.

The children were reported missing between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday following unconfirmed reports of a pulled fire alarm. The children left the unlocked 32- bed housing facility that provides temporary custody to 26 area abused and neglected foster children with “mild to moderate behavior challenges,” Tim Schaffner, CSB director said.

The facility staff of about 50 is working with police according to state procedures to get all the children home, the director said.

Pedestrian struck by car cited for walking in road

WARREN — A pedestrian was struck by a car Wednesday evening and he later was cited for walking in the road, according to a police report.

Elijah O. Johnson, 57, of Warren, was struck at the intersection of North Park Avenue and Washington Street NE just before 6 p.m., according to a call log from the Trumbull County 911 Center. The driver of the car told police he just walked off the curb in front of her vehicle, the report states.

Johnson was taken by ambulance to Trumbull Regional Medical Center and a Warren police officer told dispatchers he was going there to issue Johnson a citation for walking in the road, the report states.
