Minor vandalism done to boat launch
GIRARD — Minor vandalism was done this week to the newly completed boat launch below the Girard-McDonald viaduct.
Mayor James Melfi said Friday someone drove a four-wheeler over the newly installed lawn and also stole a metal bar from the canoe launch that is used to hold the canoes and kayaks in place. Melfi said the bar can be replaced and the grass can be reseeded.
He said Ohio Edison soon will be installing poles and lighting in the remote area so residents will be able to see if someone is there.
The vandalism is being investigated.
