WARREN — Novelis Inc., which supplies beverage can material to canmakers, has announced a $4.5 million manufacturing investment at its local facility on Griswold Street NE.

Company leaders said the investment in the “state-of-the-art technology” will provide the industrial aluminum company with greater versatility for pretreatments, improve operational efficiency and reduce costs over time.

“We are thrilled to announce this local investment,” said Paul Nelson, plant manager. “Due to a steady U.S. can market and Novelis’ strong financial performance across the globe, we are making the investments necessary to sustain our operation here in Warren for many years to come.”

Atlanta-based Novelis is a leading producer of rolled aluminum and a global leader in beverage can recycling, according to information on its website.

In addition to the beverage can industry, the company has customers in the automotive, consumer electronics, construction, foil and packaging fields and operates in 10 countries on four continents.

Novelis’ Warren facility has 75 employees who apply coating to rolled aluminum sheet used to produce more than one billion beverage can lids each month, the company said.

The company’s beverage can materials are supplied to several recognizable brands including Coca-Cola, AB InBev and PepsiCo.
