WARREN — One of two city men originally thought to be a victim in an afternoon shooting last week in the area of Hazelwood Avenue SE and Clarence Street SE was arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court on charges of felonious assault and discharging a weapon.

Jautice T. McDonald, 21, 804 Kenilworth Ave., pleaded not guilty during a jail arraignment before Warren Municipal Court Judge Terry Ivanchak. McDonald was being held in Trumbull County Jail. He was arrested Sunday.

Tyrin E. Blackwell, 23, 477 First St. SW, was booked into Trumbull County Jail Monday on warrants of felonious assault and discharging firearms, but had not yet been arraigned.

Police responded to calls in the area of Hazelwood Avenue SE and Clarence Street SE shortly after noon last Wednesday. Officers were told that a person who had been shot in the leg was at 1555 Adelaide Ave. SE, according to police reports. However, no one was at that address.

Other witnesses reported that the gunshot victim had been placed in a white truck that was traveling toward Youngstown Road.

A short time later, officials at St. Joseph Warren Hospital called police and advised officers that a person with a gunshot wound had arrived at the hospital, according to a police report.

Blackwell arrived at the hospital with a bullet wound in his left leg, according to police.

Blackwell reported being shot by McDonald during an argument, but told police he did not want to file any charges.
