Coroner rules death a homicide

WARREN — The death of a Warren man who was shot early Saturday morning in an apparent road rage incident was ruled a homicide by Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk.

A coroner’s spokeswoman said Michael Blackwell, 37, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Warren police Chief Eric Merkel said no arrests have been made in connection to Blackwell’s death. Blackwell died at the scene about 4 a.m. Saturday after he was found by police officers lying partially in an alley next to 2311 Beck St. SE, according to a police report.

Officers were told by witnesses that a man wearing a red top was walking around with a gun and shots were fired, the report states. The report also states officers were told the shooter was in a blue truck.
