Autopsy set in Youngstown fire

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who died in an early Sunday morning house fire at Crandall and Ford avenues as Karen Phillips, 49.

A news release from coroner’s investigator Theresa Valek states an autopsy of Phillips will be conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A fire department report states Phillips was trapped on the third floor of the home about 1:30 a.m., while three other people inside the home made it out alive. The report states Phillips was revived at the scene but later died at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The state fire marshal was called in to help with the investigation, the coroner’s release states.
