Tribune Chronicle

WARREN — City police on Sunday confirmed they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people.

Two separate news releases from the Warren Police Department detailed officers finding two bodies within 19 hours of each other.

The body of a female was discovered about 10:51 p.m. Saturday in the area near a parking lot off Duke Street, according to the first news release.

A male body was found 5:28 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Northwest Boulevard NW, according to a separate news release. The male had suffered a gunshot wound, the news release states.

According to detective Wayne Mackey, the investigation is continuing.

Police did not identify either person and did not indicate how the female died.

The first news release states that officers were dispatched to the area of Fairview Gardens apartments about 10:51 p.m. Saturday to investigate reports of gunfire. The apartment complex is located off Benton Street SE.

A police supervisor noted that radio reports of a man being shot on Van Wye SE off Niles Road around the same time could be part of the same investigation.

No suspects connected to the female’s death were in custody, according to the news release. It was not clear whether police had arrested anyone related to the male’s death.
