Herdman sworn in as U.S. attorney
CLEVELAND — Justin E. Herdman was sworn in Monday as the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Herdman was nominated June 12 by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate Aug. 3. He took the oath of office from U.S. District Court Judge Patricia Gaughan.
He is supervising the prosecution of such federal crimes related to terrorism, public corruption, child exploitation, firearms and narcotics. The office covers Ohio’s northern 40 counties, which includes Trumbull and Mahoning.
Herdman oversees a staff of about 160 employees.
A Chagrin Falls resident, Herdman was an assistant United States attorney from 2006-13.
