Bristol bridge on bike trail reopens
BRISTOL — The Baughman Creek Bridge on the Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail between Hyde Oakfield and Mahan Denman roads in Bristol has reopened.
The bridge had been closed since August 2015 until the Trumbull County MetroParks was recently able to get liability insurance. The concrete blocks that stop riders from passing will be used to narrow the entrance to the bridge to allow pedestrian and bicycle access only, according to the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office.
The bridge — 25 feet high and 35 feet long — was built sometime between 1853 and 1864 by the Ashtabula and New Lisbon Railroad Co.
