Suspected marijuana found in Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD — The Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force found numerous suspected marijuana plants on a state Route 87 property after a tip from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

ODOT workers were trimming cattails in the 2100 block of state Route 87 Tuesday morning when they found several signs warning them not to trim the growth, according to TAG commander Capt. Tony Villanueva. ODOT called the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which smelled marijuana and saw a suspected pot plant. The patrol then called the task force, which obtained a search warrant.

Officers found 11 one-gallon buckets full of suspected marijuana, as well as eight guns, 25 large plastic containers of suspected marijuana and 29 plants growing inside the house. They also pulled at least 19 plants out of land on the man’s property.

No charges have been filed yet.
