Gold City plans Friday concert

CORTLAND — Gold City, one of the top Southern gospel groups, will make a late-scheduled stop for a concert 7 p.m. Friday at the Jericho Center, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road.

The concert is hosted by the Golden Street Singers of Farmdale.

This will be the group’s third concert in the area in the last four years, having appeared in concerts sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle at Packard Music Hall in 2013 and at the Warren First Assembly in 2015.

The group has had at least 10 Singing News No. 1 songs, including “When I Get Carried Away” (1987), “Midnight Cry” (1988) and “Peter, James and John” (2012).

In the group’s 37 years, it has won the Singing News Fan Awards honors for favorite group six times and favorite traditional male group three times.

Admission is free. A free will offering will be accepted. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be available.

The facility is handicap accessible.
