Farmington trustees to purchase property
FARMINGTON — Township trustees have finalized the purchase of 0.25 acres of property near the fire station to be used for offices and a meeting room for the fire department and trustees.
Trustee Chairman Kevin Bontrager said trustees finalized the $18,000 purchase this month. He said renovation of the inside of the home and work on the roof will need to be done because it has been vacant for several years.
The property at 181 N. Third St., east of the fire station, is around the corner from the station but abuts the fire property at the back lot.
Trustees saw the need for additional space with the transition to 24/7 fire protection in January, which was made possible with passage of a 3.1-mill levy in 2016. Trustees now hold meetings in the fire bays.
