Police investigate Elm Road robbery

WARREN — City police are investigating a Friday evening robbery at an Elm Road pharmacy.

The robber, described as a white male wearing a blue sweatshirt that said “DUKE” with jeans and a gray Carhart hat, entered Walgreens at 8:30 p.m. and approached the register, asking for two packs of Marlboro cigarettes, according to a Warren police report.

He then told the cashier he had a gun hidden in his pocket and to hand over the money without making any sounds, the report states.

Although the gun was not visible, the cashier handed over $178 in cash. The male left the business and appeared to head south, according to the police report.

Police checked the area, but were not able to locate the robber. However, the store manager provided police with footage from a surveillance recording.

As of Monday, no one had been charged or arrested in connection to the robbery, according to Warren police Detective Wayne Mackie.

The manager at Walgreens declined comment and referred questions to Walgreens’ corporate office.
