Felon faces drug and gun charges

WEATHERSFIELD — A man facing felony charges after the mother of his child reported she was kicking him out because he was selling drugs out of her home is scheduled to appear Monday in Niles Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing, according to police and court records.

Justin Saban, 27, Hazel Street, Niles, is charged with defacing a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and having weapons under disability, according to court records. He pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of defacing a firearm and is being held in the Trumbull County Jail.

Police were called Nov. 21 to 2891 Tibbets Wick Road, where officers found two guns — one with its serial number scratched off — in a car, cocaine hidden in a hair brush in the car and more than $3,000, according to the police report.

Saban was sentenced to five years of probation in 2013 after a conviction for trafficking heroin in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, court records show Saban was convicted of violating his probation in 2014 and 2015.
