WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Gil Blair and Marvin McBride


• Will apply for an Ohio Development Services Agency’s Local Government Safety Capital Grant to cover 100 percent of the costs for a prisoner transport vehicle with supplies and equipment. This will be a multi-jurisdictional partnership between the township, Niles city, McDonald village and Niles Municipal Court;

• Approved an agreement with the Trumbull County Planning Commission to revise the township zoning map not to exceed $500;

• Received assistance from Trumbull County officials for assisting in securing a $270,000 grant for replacing a bridge on Austintown-Warren Road;

• Announced portable garages or other structures made of tarps, tents, plastic or similar materials are prohibited;

• Announced the holiday tree lighting will be 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the gazebo in the community park with a visit from Santa Claus, caroling and refreshments;

• Met with the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber regarding the scope of services they will be providing to the township;

• Received a donation from resident Todd Murdock for restoring the ”Welcome to Mineral Ridge” signs along Main Street;

• Approved a policy that authorizes insurance companies under certain circumstances to pay the township a portion of insurance proceeds to ensure a fire-damaged building  or structure is removed, repaired or secured. When a fire loss equals or exceeds 60 percent of the liability limits covering a structure, the insurance company shall transfer the insurance proceeds an aggregate of $2,000 for each $15,000 of fire loss.
